Stand Up for NC Hemp: how CBHD is fighting to keep hemp legal in North Carolina

Stand Up for NC Hemp: How CBHD Is Fighting for North Carolina

If you’ve been following the news about hemp, you know December 11, 2026 is a big date. Unless Congress acts, most hemp-derived THC products will fall outside the federal definition of hemp on that day. One group working hard to stop that from happening here in North Carolina is CBHD, and we want to introduce you to them.

Who is CBHD?

CBHD stands for Cultivating Breakthroughs in Healthy Development. It’s an independent news and advocacy organization focused on North Carolina’s hemp community: the farmers, small businesses, employees and customers who depend on it. They publish news on hemp laws and policy, send legislative alerts when something is moving in Raleigh or Washington, and organize people to speak up.

CBHD is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization and is licensed as a charitable solicitor in North Carolina (License SL 101821).

Why it matters

Hemp isn’t just a product on a shelf. According to CBHD, North Carolina’s hemp cannabinoid industry supports more than 16,000 jobs and over $700 million in annual wages across the state, in rural towns and cities alike. Stores like ours are part of that, and so are the growers and makers we buy from. Sensible rules protect customers. A ban would put a lot of North Carolinians out of work.

How you can help

Sign the petition. It takes about a minute, and your message goes straight to your U.S. House member and both North Carolina senators. You can find it on our Save Hemp post or by scanning the QR code on our homepage.

Share your story. CBHD collects short videos from North Carolinians about what hemp means to them and shares them with lawmakers. Real voices make a difference. Record yours here.

Stay informed. Visit cbhd.news for the latest on the hemp ban and sign up for their updates so you know when it’s time to call or write.

Donate if you can. CBHD relies on supporters to fund its advocacy and reporting. Every amount helps, whether it’s a one-time gift or a monthly one. Please note that donations to CBHD are not tax-deductible because it is a 501(c)(4) organization.

Carolina Botanica isn’t affiliated with CBHD and isn’t paid to share this. We’re a North Carolina hemp business, and we believe in what they’re doing. We hope you’ll join us in speaking up.
